For those of you who are counting (not that I’m among them…) I have ten (10) weeks until I need to be ready for my show at the Salem Art Association (opening night, March 6; delivery by Feb. 27). So, what did I work on this weekend? Certainly not that!
Because obviously anything is more fun that working on what I’m supposed to be working on, I spent some time this week adding some layers onto “Alone With Her Thoughts 2”.
It’s now at that awkward, ugly, adolescent stage. Fun.
Next, I decided this painting (from 2017) absolutely had to be finished.
I think it’s almost over the top enough, but needs a good title. I’m currently welcoming suggestions on my Facebook page.
My current favorite (as of 8:24pm) is “I Feel Pretty”.
Update 24 hours later: The list continues, but here are some of my additional favorites.
- Queen La-teeth-ah
- Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Mezosoic
- I feel pretty!
- Does this shade match my bloodstains?
- I am woman, hear me roar
- Dressed to kill
- Glamasaur
- Got a Tic Tac?
- I love this new moisturizer. Yes, blood of stegosaurus is very rejuvenating.
- Diva
- Fancy
- All dressed up and nowhere to go
- I need a toothpick
- Dinosaur drag queen
- Belle of the ball
- I am pretty hear me roar
- Getting ready for a date
- Being this beautiful only looks easy
- The natural look
- All that separates us from the humans is our ability to accessorize.
- Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
After working on these pieces, which have no deadline, and therefore are obviously MUCH more important than the pieces that do, I (gasp) did some more work on the Dogs of Minto Brown project.
I did two more sketches from new reference photos.
And then (another gasp) I actually started work.
These paintings WISH they were at the awkward, ugly adolescent stage. Sigh.
All joking aside, with 10 weeks to go and at least three of those weekends spoken for, I’ll have to commit to some serious studio time. And I NEVER have a problem with that…
Anyone want to sign up to lock me in the house?
